Hi everyone

Has anyone managed to setup your own version of Squirrelmail and Shared SSL successfully? I installed my own version of Squirrelmail because I require certain plugins that are not part of the standard package.

After a few tinkering of the configuration settings, I am able to successfully to login to my newly installed Squirrelmail successfully via http://webmail.mydomain.com (which is directed from ~/public_html/webmail), but since I'll be using this mail in a corporate environment, I would prefer to have my email be secured by SSL. I don't need private SSL as this email will only be used by myself.

When I tried to login via https://secure.bluehost.com/~myunixusername/webmail, I got an Internal Server 500 error (i.e. A misconfiguration on the server caused a hiccup. Check the server logs, fix the problem, then try again).

Therefore:
1. What went wrong?
2. How do I fix it?
3. Is it possible to remove the default redirection from http://www.mydomain.com/webmail to http://www.mydomain.com:2095? If yes, how?
4. Was problem #1 caused by problem #3?

Thank you.

I think I have managed to solve the issue #1 and #2.

~/public_html/webmail was previously a symbolic link to ~/squirrelmail-1.4.10a. I deleted the symbolic link and copied the entire directory content of ~/squirrelmail-1.4.10a to ~/public_html/webmail and it worked fine. I am now able to use shared SSL on my webmail.

However, I'm still up for feedback on issue #3. I checked the Redirection section in CPanel, and doesn't seem to have any redirection setup besides my subdomain redirection that points from http://webmail.mydomain.com to ~/public_html/webmail.

Hope to hear from you!

Have you tried contacting bluehost about this? There might be a redirect problem in your .htaccess file.

Why do you not use RoundCube Webmail Project (http://roundcube.net/)?
It is very cool and be simple to setup

Just got the following email from Bluehost Support regarding this issue:

Subject: [ #000000]: Webmail Redirection

Unfortunately, this is a server-wide configuration and as such, can not be changed.
