What do I have to do in order to back up a database on a large forum I run?

It's causing me to exceed my CPU quota and it ends up suspending my account for a few minutes.

Which in turn leaves me with a 20mb worthless back up.

Any ideas?

Have you tried mysqldumper? Google it.
As for the CPU quota... If you run a big forum on bluehost, you get CPU exceded - warnings for coughing too loudly.
That's why I'm moving my forum to a different host. It's just no good this way.
I'm staying here with my site though - the amount of space and the speed of the connection is very good. Especially considering the money you pay for all of this. It's really a bargain.

i used to do db backup from cpanel -backup- tab, and it was causing me horrible cpu quota errors

later on, i started using SSH to back up my databases and it worked SUPREME with no errors or cpu quota issues
till few weeks ago, it started to misbehave :( ,sometimes SSH dump takes tooo long queries causing direct hit to cpu quota and my business goes offline for a short while

im trying to figure out how to keep a backup without hitting the cpu quota !
a Question will always remain unanswer-able:confused:

Getting a dedicated IP address from bluehost will help. I have been able to backup large databases that take well over a minute to complete.
