Bluehost provides 3 Analog, Awstats, & Webalizer. So which one do you go by?
I go by Awstats, it seems to be the more accurate than the other two.

We are using Analog, but our logs are growing big each month... Aug-2005 was just 965Kb, Sep-2005 3,09Mb, Oct-2005 15,83Mb and then Jan-2006 52,01Mb. I cant even open it.
Of course, I need help with them... How can I make them smaller?

I use AWStats! Although, only thing i dislike about it is the fact it doesn't give an option to do printouts. I can goto file/print and choose the right frame but thats 7 pages. I would like the option to where it will ask you to select what parts of the pages you would want to print and what parts NOT to print that way your printing what YOU want printed and not everything.
I can't be to picky though! Either way its the best stats program in my opinion. :-)

Sometimes, when I visit Awstats, nothing loads. It just comes to a blank page. At first I figured maybe I was just visiting in maybe the ten minutes it takes for it to generate and tabulate all the hits and whatnot. However, it happens randomly, multiple times a day. Does anyone understand this?

Awstats...I like the way those reports look.

AwStats seems to give the most information and is very clean. What I appreciate is, rather than posting every bit of information on the page, it gives you a "Top Ten" list (more or less) for each category and then you can click on a link to view the full stats if you choose.
I've used Webalizer in the past but the numbers sometimes appear artificially high when compared to the other stat sheets.
Webalizer :)
Gives me the info I need ;)

Awstats is great. I was told though that the timespan in which it counts repeat visitors during the day is shorter than webalizer and may thus overstate your unique visitors/day. In my stats AWstats has more unique visitors by a factor of 3:eek:

AW, because its clean, gives me everythign i need, and its pretty.
I moved my site here about 2 days ago. I checked the boxes to activate stats in cpanel but none of the programs mentioned in this thread are working:
Analog is not available for new users.
Awstats says "Error: Couldn't open config file" and asks if I created the config file.
Webalizer I get the message "Webalizer stats have not yet been generated!"

I moved my site here about 2 days ago. I checked the boxes to activate stats in cpanel but none of the programs mentioned in this thread are working:Give it a couple of days. They run the stats on a schedule that's a bit erratic. It's usually every 25-26 hours, but the last couple of runs on my box were about 36 hours apart. So, until the stats have been run, you won't see anything.

I go by members. If they like it ok. if they don't ok too. I don't really care where you are or who you are. Maybe I should set up my own gov't.
I'll kick your ass if you bomb me though. Diplomacy is not in my dictionary. And war in this day in age costs too much. 1 Bomb ...BOOM. Period.

Awstats. They are the best looking by far and they report slightly lower numbers than the others I've tried, so I don't feel like I'm using inflated numbers. Also, it's not just good looks, they're easy to read because they convey the relevant information very effectively.

I've always liked AWstats for the information it gave as well as the layout. I never knew that the software reports slightly lower numbers. How is that possible? don't all stat programs just read the data from the access logs?

It's just a phenomenon I have observed :) Checking my stats for January, 2007, Analog reports about 8 times (!) as many "pages" as awstats; it doesn't report visits or unique visitors, which are probably more useful for comparing sites. Webalizer is in the same ballpark as awstats, but still a little higher.
Because I didn't want to write my own software to double check these figures, I made a decision about which package to believe without analyzing how it is that different packages can arrive at different results. I suppose each package can use slightly different definitions of the figures they report.

i use awstats, its the only one offered that shows info about the traffic i am receiving. it doesn't really work too well though. it doesn't give me the correct info on referrers, or top requested pages/files, and lots of other little annoyances.
whats a real powerful stats program? i'd like to install one myself

Hi all,
Awstats is comprehensive, but how do I add sites to it. I have 6 sites that I need stats for, but only have 4 showing in Awstats?

Control Panel, Choose Log Programs. Once you've turned awstats on for one of your domains or subdomains, you'll have to wait at least 24 hours before it's gathered stats to show you.

I've been using a combination of awstats and google analytics on my sites for some time. However, i've recently found out about Clicky (http://www.getclicky.com), installed it on a couple of sites and must say that it has been superb, and matches or even surpasses google analytics in several regards.

I find Google Analytics work good and are more visual than awstats, I love the map feature. Another one I like is mint (http://haveamint.com/). It's not free though. Of the few types of stats built into cPanel awstats is the best for sure.

Hey Guys,
Does anyone know of a way to get awstats / webalizer to automatically send out a report on statistics. I'm looking for a report to be e-mailed to me once per week or once per month.
Anyone know of how to do this? Thanks in Advance
Chris
