Need help

I am brand new to this and currently clueless. Please be patient. I am trying to replace the background image in the title block of my new page. When I try to edit the html for the image to make the source my picture trail image, it will not save the changes and defaults back to the original html image. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any insight.

I was trying to edit the html code from the view source page

Are you putting the updated version of the file in the same folder as the original? If you have created a second file altogether the server is probably still reading the first one.

I think that may be the problem but I'm not sure how to separate them. I am clicking on edit and view source. I change my html code to point to my image source and click save. When I view the page it is the same as before and when I go back to the view source page, the code has reverted to the original.

The view source copy is in your internet cache and is not the original copy of the page source. What you are doing is the equivalent of taking a photo aof a red car, painting the car in the photo blue and then wondering why the orifinal car is still red.

If you want to edit your page then edit the original file and not a cached copy of it.

Despite felgall's informative post..

You either need to save the edited file locally and upload it to the server via ftp or file manager, or edit the file through file manager under cpanel.

If you need help figuring these out there are many, many tutorials out there.

Actually, although Felgall's reply was in no way benificial to me, I do have to respect his hearty display of sarcastic wit. :rolleyes:
