Hello world!
I'm a new guy on the block and wouldn't ya know it, I know nothing about running a website.
I started an internet radio show (if you can call it that) a few months back. A fellow on the network (who is no longer around for some reason) built a rough site for me so that I would have a place to archive my shows. After a falling out between the network admin and the server I assumed responsibility for my site and brought it to blue host. I have since gotten my shows reloaded, and with some help from a friend I (he) got the "documents" tab on the site to where I could upload a few documents, but he says to get the "links" tab to where I can post some links to it is another story, and is out of his league. I fiddled around with it some and was able to get the links tab to open a window without giving me the infamous "404" error thing, but I can not for the life of me figure out how to upload a list of links to the page. Here (http://www.thebelltower.info/) is a link to my site. If anyone out there can click on the links tab and offer any advise on how I can meet my objective (posting links on the links page) I'll get the wife to bake you some cookies or something LOL. all kidding aside If you can help I would really appreciate the advice. And, if it makes any difference I am using Mozilla Firefox.
Oh, and you are more than welcome to browse the site if you like. You might find it rather boring though. I do not offer legal advice, but I do research law, and I do to the best of my ability convey to the listener that which I have learned about the so called 'law' so that We The People might stand a better chance defending our selves in a court room situation be it traffic tickets or taxes/debt collections.
Archives, Documents, and contact me are the only tabs that have any content at the moment, but with a little luck and some help from someone who has been there, done that the links page will have a bunch of good research tools on there .
Thanks all,
Q

Hmmm, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'tabs'. Do you want the links page to appear like the other pages on the website, like the index (home) page, with links to all the files that you want in the content area? If so, you're going to encounter problems. Your website is built as one big image, and there's rectangles on your websites which are set as links. This isn't particularly good practice, and there's no 'easy' way to put links on in that way. You'll have to slice the image, and code in HTML/CSS.

Alternatively, if you mean 'tabs' as in what you currently have in your archive or documentation section (a folder with contents which you can click on), then you need to make a new folder named 'links', set the link on the websites from links.htm to links/ and then upload all the files to the links directory you just created. You wouldn't be able to use this to external sites though (outside your website).

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but I would reccomend getting your site properly coded in HTML/CSS. I can't see how its possible to post links using the current version of the site.

I read around your site a bit, and I might check out your documents later. I'm a law student.

Perhaps 'tabs' is the wrong word. What I'm referring to are the links on the home page where it says, "Home", "Archives", "Documentation", "Sponsor this Show", "Links", "Contact Me", and "Listen Live".
What I would like to achieve is placing a list of links on the links page i.e. http://www.endlessfrauddetection.com/ http://www.geocities.com/jtrooper_2000/COURT.htm?20079 http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode42/usc_sec_42_00001983----000-.html
and so on in very much the same fashion as the Documentation page.
From the sound of it I need to completely rebuild the site from scratch. A daunting task for a numb scull like me.
Guess it's time for this old dog to learn some new tricks.
Law student you say, drop me a PM with your e-mail address. I would like to send you an offer you may be interested in.

Sorry, I can't see how thats possible with the existing site. There's a good tutorial on slicing here (http://www.csslicingguide.com/guide/stage_1.html), or you could consider paying $100 - $150 to get it done for you.

Someone else might be able to provide a solution, so wait for some further replies.

Are you a blue host customer? And have you checked the links in the Ble Host control panel? You can also google a program called NVU and create your own web pages...

I have 6 Blue Host accounts (4 for other people) and use FrontPage...
