Good Morning,

Does anyone have any experience with Avast anti-virus software and how/why it may be in conflict with either bluehost or my own Verizon security software??????

Specifically, I maintain & update two web sites thanks to bluehost. www.burroughs-alumni.org and www.budholley.com. The former is my issue..... One, and only one, of my routine viewers has just reported:

".....My virus scan came back with no infected files, also. However, whenever I try to click on any of the links on the Burroughs-alumni.org splash page I get an alert from my "Avast" anti-virus protection software. The only links that don't alert are the Guestbook links. They are alerting me to a Virus/Worm VBS: Malware-gen I'm going to alert my anti-virus provider and have them check your Burroughs site and see if there might be a glitch in their software that is alerting to some of the code on your site...... Bob"

Note: My Verizon Internet Security Anti-Virus package showed NO corrupted or infected files. My web development software is WebEZPro by VCOM, and the Guestbook is maintained by www.guestbookworld.com.....

Thanks for any hints.... bud holley

Sounds like a case of false positives - it happens sometimes. My AVG A-V and Windows Defender don't have any complaints about that site.

Looks alright with NOD32 and Kaspersky as well.

Could be that your viewer has something on his PC. Might pay to ask him to perform a full scan.

Thanks to sXi and Early Out. Very helpful and confirming. I have sent your comments, without identy, to my reader. Not wanting to bash his free version of anti-virus, but I've always approached intro-version software with a bit of caution.... Again, thanks for the timely feedback... Bud Holley
