Since the apache/php5 upgrade I have a phpbb2 and Gallery that no longer work. Does anyone know if this is php or apache related. I am starting to think that it is apache, because when I tried to upgrade to phpbb3(thinking if it was a php problem that would fix it) my browser couldn't open the install file as in the installation instructions. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?

I did not have any issues when they upgraded apache and php. Then again, my site was still running php 4, on the new apache version.
I upgraded to phpbb3* and it ran fine. I just upgraded my account to php 5 to make use of some code that was newly implemented in php5 and still don't have any issues.
In cPanel, under the php config, you can change the version of php between 4, 5, and 5 with fast-cgi.
Are you getting any errors, or is it just not loading?
*FWIW, phpbb3 conversion is extremly cpu intensive, and will make you account hit the quota. I had to do my conversion local, and upload the new db.

As the PHP upgrade only happens when you actually switch from 4 to 5 yourself, if anything from the upgrade does have any impact on your site then it would have to be Apache related if it is related to the upgrade at all.

Things are back to normal now. But a couple clarifications for how things are working with the upgrades and a helpful hint if anyone has problems similar to mine.
I did not switch to php5 myself. My whole server was switched and it will not be an option to run php4 anymore. I did a live chat and that is what the guy told me. I only have php5 and php5(fastCGI) available under php config.
The problem was that my browser would not open the page, it would just ask if I wanted to download the file or open it with a different program. When I tried to have firefox open it I would just get a list of all of the code. That was for my phpbb2, Gallery, and the install page for phpbb3. And it wasn't just me, others on my phpbb2 were having the same problem. During live chat I explained the problem. There was a few minute pause and then the guy said everything should be working now, he didn't say what he did. After that the phpbb3 install page would come up but not the other two. The tech just said that the other two must not be running under php5 anymore and unfortunately there was nothing he could do.
The next morning, just on a whim I emptied my cache. Now my phpbb2 and Gallery are working again. So, that is my tip if anyone else has this problem after the upgrade and talking to support. Clear you cache. But, do talk to support first as they did have to make some sort of change.

Those servers where PHP4 is not offered would have been the ones already running PHP5 before the Apache upgrade.

Several months ago I looked at the php version and it was php4. It's not something I keep close tabs on, so I don't know when it changed or when my domain might have been moved to a different server. Simply not that important for me. In the chat though, the tech said that php4 would eventually be removed from all servers.
