I have really liked bluehost for my normal webserving/ftp needs over the past couple years, but bluehost does not run ventrillo servers. Seeing as how other people here may have encountered a similar situation, and knowing the quality of service we get from bluehost, can anyone recommend a solid company for ventrillo hosting?

thanks!

You can host a teamspeak server on our servers, which, in my humble opinion (as a user of voice comm applications, not a tech at bluehost), is better than vent. Why?

1 - It is free. That is right, as long as you are not using it to gain money, it is free (you may want to read their tos).

2 - Unlike the "free" version of vent, it has support for more than 8 users. To have more than 8 on a server at a time with vent, you have to pay a company. That is lame.

3 - You can install the free version on our servers! The free version of vent (in my experience this is) can not be bound to an ip address, which is what you have to do on our servers to get it to work. Teamspeak can be bound to your dedicated ip.

A lot of people will argue that teamspeak provides inferior sound quality to vent. This is not the case in my experience.

Hi felippe,

Thanks very much for the information. I'll find out if my guild is truly tied to Ventrilo for one reason or the other, or if we'd like to move to team speak for the reasons you gave.
