Hi,

I hope I have not just discovered that I cannot host .com.au domains on the Bluehost package I just paid for?

In addition, I also can't see a way of hosting my existing domains on Bluehost without actually signing over the domain hosting to them. What if I am happy with where they're hosted now? I would have expected the usual practice of changing the DNS setting to point to the new server would be sufficient ( like the other half a dozen sites I have at Server101, Osetupfees, and GeekHosting ) . I want to put the sites here only... and keep the domain hosting where it is.

Did I miss something here?

Yes you can point the domain to be hosted here. Login to the control panel where the domain is registered and change the name servers to

NS1.bluehost.com
NS2.bluehost.com

It may take 24-48 before it will work. As for the .com.au, I'm pretty sure that you can use that domain, as long as it's registered somewhere that supports it. Bluehost cannot register that domain, but that domain can still be pointed to bluehost severs. I'd contact customer support to verify that.

Make sense?

Is it possible to point only the A records to BlueHost?

I'm rather happy with my DNS solution.

Make sense?

yes, but waiting an indeterminate amount of time between 2 and 48 hours before you can even start to set up your relocated site doesn't ;).

More info on the problem here (http://www.bluehostforum.com/showthread.php?t=1205).

I have responded to your other post (that you link to above)

When you sign up with BlueHost, you receive an email that includes a URL that you can access your website, and CPanel, etc.

It is something like this: box133.bluehost.com/~username

You can then get your site setup, and fully tested BEFORE you redirect the A record.

So, with two sites setup correctly, you will get ZERO downtime whilst the DNS changes propagate 'round the globe.

And remember, when in dobut contact support. There are lots of things that they can do that work around the automated systems to enable seamless cutover of sites.
