i have several domains and i have a directory domains/(subdomain) so that i can keep them organised. i have done this from the begening. now when i try to do it again it wont work, i called support to have them do it, they said they did it, it didnt work so i check and thy just pointed it to the domain directory not the subdomain directory. anyone know how to fix this?

Someone else was posting about this problem a couple of days ago and yet I was able to successfully create a sub-domain in a sub-directory just yesterday. Perhaps something is stuffed up on just one specific server and you and that prior poster just happen to be on that one.

I am having the same problem. I managed to make it work about a week ago, but now I can't do it again. Domain manager steadfastly refuses to let me create an add-on domain in ~/public_html/domains/domain-name

I've raised a support ticket, we'll see how we go.

Support tickets at BH are finding their way into an unknown dimension. You might have more luck with LiveChat. It seems like this is an issue that has been raised by more than one poster at the forum so perhaps there is an issue with cPanel?

I tried this real quick last night and when I tried to create the sub-directory, for instance /public-html/test/test1, it complained that I could not use a '/' or other symbols. Not a resolution, but maybe that will help?

Perhaps it would be useful if those who are posting about this problem could identify which server their site is on as if all are on the same server then that information will be very useful to tell support to help them fix it.

Well I got very polite reply from Barbara in support, although not exactly the answer I was looking for:

"We apologize for the confusion but it was a bug in cPanel that allowed you to do that previously. It was never intended that you should be able to nest domains that way. The bug as you have noted has been fixed and you no longer can do that. Word is that we do not expect that to change anytime in the future."

Well as far as I am concerned it was a feature, and a good feature that I liked. Not sure how far I will get with pushing for it to be the other way though.

(on box287, although not sure that actually makes a difference to this)

For subdomains I don't have a problem just typing in the path. For addon domains however, they have set up some stupid javascript validation. Since I don't approve of them limiting where you can point your domain, and since I don't see how this can really be intentional, I'll tell you how to get around it: disable javascript. It's as simple as that. I just tried this myself so I know it works.
