I run a medium-sized business and want to standardise my employees on Horde mail and get away from Squirrel. I would also like to limit their options in terms of forwarding and all those various options available when logging in from:
http//domain.com/webmail/
Is this possible?

The only way I can think to do that is to install your own version of Horde on a domain (http://webmail.yourdomain.com ---> /home/yourcpanelusername/public_html/horde )

Even that would not prevent those who know how from accessing their mail using whatever program they choose to use.

True, but for the most part users aren't terribly smart and will generally use only what they're comfortable with. :)
I don't want users setting up their own forwarders or anything like that.

A possible direct link to Horde on your account would look as such: http://www.yourdomain.com:2095/horde/index.php
Then they just enter their username and password.

True, but then this comes back to ease of use, unless I can configure a domain that is mapped directly to that?

Go into cPanel and create whatever sub-domain or add-on domain that you want to use for that and then set up a redirect on it to point directly to Horde. Takes about 30 seconds to do it.

What document root do I use:

I know that it cannot be mail.yourdomain.com - maybe something like horde.yourdomain.com?

webmail seems open... but I'm not sure where to map the sub domain to?

Redirect it to http://www.example.com:2095/horde/index.php
(where example.com is your main domain)

Ok, cool. I did it and it works well. The only nagging problem I have is if people logout and use the dialogue box on the logout page, they can log back in and access squirrel and other mail options. :(

The only way around that one is to install your own copy of Horde for them to use.

Unfortunately that is well beyond my grasp. :/
