just a question, does bluehost charge you if you use ssl.

Yes, no, maybe so ... It depends ...
If you can't just use Secure BlueHost as it is, they might have to do something special for a price.

Shared is free. Search in the help center on how to use it.
A private certificate needs a dedicated IP which costs extra + the cost of the certificate. $75 a year. Add-on domains can't use private certificates, only the main domain you initially registered with the account.
