Addon-domains, help!

I'll try not to ramble on too much here, apologies in advance if I go round in circles.

I currently have a blog both on my primary domain (mysite.com), and also a smaller blog on a subdomain(sub.mysite.com).

I have recently purchased a 2nd domain name (mysite2.com) which I want to use for the subdomain that I have on my main domain. Following me so far?

How do I do that? Do I have to make or copy the contents of sub.mysite.com to another folder for it to become mysite2.com?

In control panel, click on ADD-ON domain
The next page is very simple.
step1. It lets you add the domain name(mysite2)
step 2. verify.
step3 : select add-on
step4: hereyougo.... type in the name of the folder where you have the subdomain.
