One of the things I look for in a host is a forum like this.
Almost all the information you need to run a successful site can be found if you do a search on the forum.

It's nice to have a knowledgebase through the help desk where you can drill down to possible answers, but some of the 'answers' there can be misleading or misspelled, old or deprecated. Actual user experience is missing.

Why not have a wiki? Members could edit answers to be more precise, freeing up bluehost staff to just approve edits.

Why don't you start one?

Wouldn't that make it unofficial?

Technically, this is an "unofficial" forum. A user proposed it to BH and got approval, so you could do the same.

If you want an "official" wiki, then suggest it to bluehost. We are all users just like you and non of us work at bluehost.

Besides, that's what this forum is for.

I like the idea. I didn't know the forum was entirely user run. Sweet! Who started the forum?

Maybe a wiki could make it easier forum users to "say here's an answer" and link to a wiki standard reply. If the answer changes, members could edit the standard answers. It saves time and energy. Plus, it gives you two ways to search for information: one by search, the other by drilling down through categories - editable by the very users of bluehost's servers.

I've never run a wiki. I'm sure I couldn't populate it alone. If others are interested this kind of project, I'd consider approaching BH about it.

If not, no big deal.

I think it's a great idea, too. The forum is nice for day-to-day questions but the wiki might be able to handle what the forum tries to address through stickys. Of course, the other option might be to suggest some changes to the BH helpcenter. It's possible that most questions are answered there but it's not well-organized. I can't say that I've used it that often but when I have I've found the answer maybe 50% of the time. The other times, I check here. :)

Thanks for starting the forum, areidmtm. It's awesome.
