ExtCalendar 2

I have installed ExtCalendar 2 through SimpleScripts and everything installed properly. No error messages were displayed.

I have entered several events already. My question is:

How do I get this thing to pop-up a reminder or to send me an email when an event occurs. I have setup a test and nothing happened. If I cannot get either, then this thing is useless for me. If I go through the process of setting up those events, it is because I do not want to forget. And, in order not to forget, I need to be reminded by a pop up message or an email.

Any ideas anyone ?

A quick search of the documentation for ExtCalendar 2 yields no hits for reminder or notify, which isn't a promising sign. :(
