In the past I always had to preface domain names with "www." in IE6 to "go there". A few weeks ago I forgot to do this, and now it appears that the "www." is not necessary.
Has something changed in internet operation or is my experience just a bunch of coincidinces?

yeah, in a lot of websites today www is not necessary. in the background it just directs back to your root directory anyway, but the user doesn't even know about it. bluehost has it setup where if you don't type www, it should still take you to the website nonetheless. you can also set it up on your website to force people to go to either one, if you want. so if they type yoursite.com, it will redirect to www.yoursite.com or backwards.
