I am setting up a website with OScommerce and when I go to mydomain.com/catalog/install all I get is the install folder index. I know I am supposed to get that page with the install button but no matter what I try I cant get to it.

I've asked some friends and would it be because php isn't setup properly on my server?

I am using webMin and I have the php configuration pointing to my php.ini file, I am not sure what else to do.

Any help is appreciated

Did you install it manually or through Fantastico?

Have you installed the patch that allows it to work properly with Register Globals off?

Sounds like you are missing a file in your Install folder. i.e. the index.php file - since you are getting the folder directory. Did the upload get interupted?

I would download a fresh OSCommerce package and upload again.

No it is not dumb trying to install things manually. The auto install programs sometimes have old versions with security problems. So it is best to learn how to do it manually.

The install director does indeed have index.php but also install.php.

However if there are missing files I would just reupload it and most ftp programs like filezilla will ask you what to do about files with the same name and size and you can choose "skip" and it will go much faster and just upload the missing files.

I didn't realize how easy oscommerce installation was with Fantastico until I installed oscommerce and a web server on my local machine. I got the lastest version with blue host. When I installed with my old host, I got a much older version. Some of the the configuration was also done during the installation!

Worked great.... now if I could just figure out my payment module problems.
