phpBB3 subdomain install: path to images?

I did a simplescripts install of phpBB3 recently: created the subdomain:

forums.ams-net.org

and all went well, EXCEPT no images anywhere.

The "real" directory of the install is

www.theams.us/forums

and if one goes there, the images show up. So there appears to be a path setting problem in one of the config or css files. The real path will be [root]/forums/styles/prosilver/imageset.

Anybody else come across and solved this problem yet? It seems to me this must be a typical problem that crops up when using a subdomain.

Just for closure, and in case this crops up for someone in the future: it was a problem w/ .htaccess settings. I phoned Bluehost and they fixed it for me very quickly.
