What error does it return?

You might want to try connecting using Passive FTP (PASV) to see if that works.

For username, try just your 8-character BH username, without the rest of it. For server, try www.nikefresh.com.

You should probably contact BH on Live Chat to debug this. FTP is pretty simple, and shouldn't create problems like this.

The only other thing I can think of is that perhaps you have an overzealous security suite that's blocking things. Turn on the Windows Firewall (never leave yourself with no firewall at all - infection can occur within seconds), and shut off whatever other firewall you're using, along with any "privacy protection" software, etc.

Hi

I set up my account and have granted FTP access to some members of my family. For the main account, the user name should be the one that ends with co. When I set up my account with Bluehost, I registered a name say "Bird.com.

Bluehost has assigned to my account the name birdco (The name I had chosen for my domain + the letters co at the end. That is what you have to use to access your site through FTP. The password is that you have chosen to acces your site.

Once you start defining access to individuals, their user name will be xxx@bird.com. The password will be the one you have associated with that name.

I never run into problems connecting with my site using this setup in my FTP software (Filezilla).

Hope this helps
ps: BTW, would anyone know why Bluehost assigned birdco as my account name when I had chosen bird.com ?

The account name is usually the first 8 letters of the main domain name. Where the domain name is less than eight characters they add one or two characters from the top level domain to it. If it matches an account name already issued to someone else then they substitute a number for the last character.
