Good day everyone. *insert wave here* -- :D

I am brand new to BlueHost, and still in the process of making sure I have all my files in order before I actually change the server info over to BlueHost. I have been working here almost non-stop for the last 24 hours or so (save for 4 hours sleep). So, if my question has been asked elsewhere, I hope you can forgive me... I did look around before I posted. And I wish to sincerely thank you all in advance for your patience with me, and any help or advice you may have.

Question -- The cPanel interface seems to bog-down my computer fairly quickly. Can I simply edit my HTML page files using either the "Edit" or "Code Edit" functions, or must I edit them using the "HTML Editor" function? And along with this, is there any way to change the interface functionality of the cPanel? Having eveything open up in new windows is somewhat annoying for me.

First, the easy one - you can't really change the way cPanel operates. It's a bewildering mix of things that open in the same window, things that open in new windows, and so on.

Now, editing HTML... Your pages are just text, so you can edit them with anything you like. Most people don't bother with any of the online editors, preferring to edit their pages on their own PCs, and uploading the new versions with an FTP client program. You can use almost any text editor - I like NoteTab Light (http://www.notetab.com/index.php) (a freebie), but there are loads of choices out there.

Thank you very much!

That is pretty much what I did in the first place... I used my little handy-dandy FTP program and uploaded all my picture, sound, and text files here, and then just went through and changed the extensions on my text pages to "HTML". I'm pretty much "old school" all the way, in that I do all my web page design and writing on my NotePad, in plain old HTML. I do use a java script for some nice mouse-over button effects though! :o

Thank you again... that helps a great deal!

NoteTab is a nice step up from Notepad, since you can keep multiple files open, do "search and replace" operations on all the files you have open, tidy the code, etc. I've made it my default editor for all .css, .html, .inc, .txt, .js, etc., files.

Oh... okay! I'll have to give that a look-see then.

Now, if I can just get rid of this uneasy feeling I have after having read so many negative comments about BlueHost's very frequent down-time, I'll be fine... :p

Compared to most bargain hosts, BH's downtime is very minor. My box hasn't been down for more than a few minutes in months. Remember, you're reading comments from a few unlucky subscribers out of hundreds of thousands.

Thanks Early Out. You have been most kind and helpful... I sincerely appreciate it!

And I know, I know... it's just my personal "luck factor" that comes to mind and works on me! :p
