 I am completely new at this, just got BlueHost as my host for my "hopefully" up-coming website .. downloaded Wordpress, but now what? How do I get started with it to create a blog? Probably a pretty dumb question, but I have no clue how to begin .. I need Layman's terms, please ;)

A loaded question to be sure!
You best bet is to install the software and then play around with the features. There is a default look to begin and then you can change the theme to match your preferences - with several freebies out there to choose from, it shouldn't be difficult to find what you want.
Bottom line - make it your own!

getting started with wordpress is very easy...
at bluehost cpanel > fantastico.. you can install wordpress instantly.
once you are done, login to your wordpress dashboard... and configure your blog. thats all... start posting blog, and you are on the right track. :D

Sorry for disagreeing, charlesgan, but don't use Fantastico! :)
Fantastico is out of date and is being phased out by Bluehost. Instead use the newer, up-to-date alternative called SimpleScripts (in your control panel.) It has the latest version of Wordpress, and you will get much better support in the future. ;)

Do NOT use Fantastico to install Wordpress. It's being phased out by BH. Use SimpleScripts, instead.
