I hate having to search through the encoding drop down menu every time to edit a file.

I use iso-8859-1 almost exclusively but for every edit, I have to search through all the others to get it there.

We should be able to at least label a default encoding.

Use an offline editor and upload via FTP. Much easier. :)

Sorry, I don't see how that would be "easier".

A month ago we had the option to choose a default encoding. Now we don't.

OK. How about "better?" With an online editor, you're stuck with whatever the latest version of cPanel provides. Doing your editing on your own platform, you have a huge array of choices. I can't imagine struggling with a clunky online editing program.

If you insist on using the online File Manager, have you tried the Legacy File Manager? :)

With thousands of editors to choose from why pick the one that is really only designed to be used for quick patches when you are away from your regular computer (which is all the file manager in cPanel is useful for).
