Hello, I am not very experienced with websites but nevertheless have managed to launch a website, www.stgeorgesharrogate.org just last Sept.
I do backups of the web files on my computer regularly, however someone said I should also do a backup via Bluehost site.
Can anyone tell me what this entails and how I do it please ?
A step by step description would be great if that is not too much trouble.
Thanks, Peterver

Unless I'm missing something, your website appears to consist of static HTML pages. There isn't any database underlying it, so it isn't changing from day to day.
In that case, keeping copies of the pages and images on your own PC is all you need to do. There's really no reason to lumber the server with an online backup.

For static pages the best way to work is to create them on your own computer and when they are finished you upload them to your site. The copy on your computer is then the master copy and the copy on your web site is an offsite backup which should be all you need.

Isn't that pretty much what I said?

Yes but the subsequent comment talking about making sure backups were up date indicated that it may not have been properly understood since if it is done that way the backups are automatically up to date.

Just do an FTP download of all your files, and on new host upload them via FTP to server. Easy cheese.

http://rofltshirts.info/host.gifThe original poster was not asking about moving from one host to another.

Greetings all,
I am new to bluehost and new to cPanel (and Cron Manager). I did manage to generate code from the helpful people and examples that will generate a full backup then email that backup to me.
One thing I realized is that the backup contains all of the backups so the email attachments get bigger and bigger unless one intervenes and deletes some of the backup files.
I feel I need to generate one more script that will delete files older than...say, 7 days. I don't know if it is as simple as coming up with a php script that deletes a file from a folder or if there is some cPanel or FTP commands I need to know about to delete files. I will investigate this, if anyone knows what trouble I might run into feel free to chime in.
