I have successfully set up several FTP accounts with the domain I initially registered with bluehost (ftp.fubar.com, let's say). So I can give someone the following info:

server: ftp.fubar.com
username: john@fubar.com

... and things work fine. HOWEVER now I have a new domain (www.RABUF.com) and I'd like someone else's login info reflect this:

server: ftp.RABUF.com
username: cindy@RABUF.com

But I can't figure out how to do this. Bluehost seems to require that both the server and the username's domain be the one I registered with. Am I missing something, or is this really not an option?

You can't. The FTP username is linked to your main domain. You can use ftp.RABUF.com, but the username would still need to be cindy@fubar.com

This is something that you'd be able to do with a reseller account, which bluehost doesn't not provide.

Thanks for the reply. Is this kind of functionality something that might appear in the future? Or is it an inevitable technical limitation (for lack of a better term)?

It is part of the difference between a basic account and a reseller account. It is therefore something that is extremely unlikely to be added to basic accounts as then they would be reseller accounts (and reseller accounts usually cost several times as much as basic accounts).
