.htaccess problems please help Antivrus 2009 on my domain

Long story short I have the exact problem this person does http://groups.google.com/group/alt.www.webmaster/browse_thread/thread/41b503917fc99469

When I log into my c-panel and try to look at my files I get this Message
"unresponsive script click to continue or cancel to stop script"
I do not see my .htaccess files in my folders but when I do a search I get 50+ different files with .htaccess at the end of it, once again if I try to viewor edit them I get the unresponsive script message and nothing loads

My question is this what is a .htaccess file, what is in it? Can I delete them?Can I make another, one?

I do not have a back up, This site was originally done on front page, I no longer have frontpage on my computer there was a remove frontpage extentions choice in the c-panel somewhere should I do this?

I have very limited database and php experience so if you have a suggestion related to this, please keep the jargin at the minimum.

I have 2 domains both infected
ladystrange.com & Blog-earnings.com
I am not trying to spam my domain names just trying to give thorough info so somebody could help me. Please

Whoa that is different ... your site appears to be fine though ... the problem appears to be associated with google. In any event you should probably follow the instructions that the google warning spits out about checking your site with google's webmaster tools :)

As far as .htaccess is concerned copy it and see if someone has hacked it but you can also simply replace it with something like ...

As for what it does ... well just say there is a lot to it and it can do a great deal ... but yes you can delete it and recreate it.
