View Full Version : Backing Up Email

I have been having some trouble accomplishing this for general purposes. My main goal was to switch an email account over to another name (work is asking me to use sgraul instead of samgraul). However lacking a 'change account name' function in the usercp, I figured I would just create a new one, backup my old email and import my messages to the new account, toss in an autoresponder and email forwarding it seems like a great solution.

However I am unable to back up my "Archive" folder, which is where most of my messages have been contained. When I attempt to download the folder, i am successful, but it gives me a blank file. When I try to download in zip format I get the following error (after about 120secs):

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 68842849 bytes) in /usr/local/cpanel/base/horde/lib/Horde/Compress/zip.php on line 307

The short question is this: how can I move all my messages from one account to my new account?

Help is appreciated

Edit: Another workaround would be if there is some way I cant find to simply change the account name.

If you contact Bluehost through Live Chat, they might be able to change the account name for you. :)

I did go on to live chat and they informed me that they could not change a name of an account. But gave me instructions to move files from my "cur" account from the old one to the new one, which should copy my messages. I did this, and unfortunately it only copied over my inbox messages, not the other folders (such as my "Archive" folder). Unless someone has any other ideas, I will have to give live chat another try later today.

Could you move the messages from your Archive folder back into the inbox, just long enough to move them to the new account?
