Hi.

I have a blog I installed with fantastico. (www.spiritcaat.com/spiritcaatblog) I've customized it and have a fair amount of posts. It needs a software update though.

How do I backup and update my blog?

I'm a real novice. I don't do coding or anything. Can I back it up by downloading the blog folder to my hard drive? Can I then update through Fantastico?

I'm currently on WP 2.2.1

Thanks,
Caat

There's also this I just found: http://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/wp-db-backup/ -- Anyone use it or know if it? How easy is it?

The easiest way is to install the automatic upgrade plugin which will make the necessary backup and then upgrade your installation for you.

Looks good.

I will add that I have used it with great success for the past six-plus months - far better than waiting for Fantastico or SimpleScripts to post updates (and it even makes you aware as soon as upgrades are available through the Dashboard interface).

Thanks! I did it last night and I'm all up-to-date. I did do it, however, on Firefox, just to be safe, since I read that some people were having trouble with Safari.

But I'm good. I'm happy. Thanks! :)
