Emails Not Being Sent Out?

I'm using WordPress, so I realize Bluehost won't provide support for WordPress, but others might be having similar problems with or without it.

When you post a comment on the site it should send me an email. There's also an email form on the site which worked last week and doesn't know.

I'm not receiving any email.

Now I know with email it might be a problem on my end, but I'm receiving other email, so I wonder if it's a problem with the server sending the mail?

Anyone else having trouble sending mail from bluehost, either through WordPress or not?

Same issues, only I'm using a regular email account. Delayed for hours.

Thanks for the response. I haven't seen ANY of the emails, even after hours of waiting, so it's a question of whether it's working but delayed, or not working at all.

Well like I said mine seem to be getting out but some have been more than 2 hours delayed. Do these guys have any kind of status screen?

The acid test is going in the other direction - the problems BH has been having today involve the outgoing mail queue.

There was a major spammer that hit our system with multiple fraudulent accounts and flooded a lot of email into the queues before he was stopped. We then cleaned out the queues (deleted the spam), but by then the queues were quite behind.

After that, the new emails were going through, but all emails that were sent during the spike had to run from the queue and took several hours to flush

Priority in a case like that is currnet live email is sent as fast as it can with the queues flushing as they can. This is how most major MTAs work so that they do not continue to get behind.

Since the system should have been able to handle a spike like that faster than it did, we now have anouther (new) outgoing mail server online.

only if the issue you have sending is a delay. The servers will still accept your email and kindly hand it to the outgoing queues.

Other issues will be soemthing else.

Nope sorry, the smtp server is rejecting my email for sending, saying smtp-auth is turned off, despite it being enabled.

Was that why I got all my old emails back as new tonight? Suddebnly I had 138 new messages (all were old emails I previously viwewd back to Nov 2005! lolol!

I began experiencing a similar problem yesterday--suddenly, I stopped receiving any comment notification emails. Is there another problem with the outgoing mail server?

For the past few days, I've been getting a problem with my phpBB forum: whenever the forum tries to send mail (like a notification), emailer.php crashes and outputs a nasty-looking error message. I know for a fact that I didn't change anything, so I did some research and found that this is most likely a host issue- either they disabled the emailer functions for a server or a specific account.

Is there another problem?

Okay, I also just noticed that when I send mail from Horde or any of the email programs, the recipient does not receive it. I have filed a help desk ticket but no one has responded as of yet.
