Hi..
Was just qurious what other people thinks of Bluehost..
I kinda liked it in the beginning. But lately. Their firewall blocks me regularly. My sites go down alteast once a week. Sometimes for hours. And right now I got a email from support......
----------------
We are currently having soime Bandwidth issues due to our mail server being backed up on sending out mail. This is causing delays in mail delivery & server response times. Our Admins anticipate everything should be back to normal in the next 2-3 hours.

I apologize for the inconvenience.
---------------
Support jas always been very polite to deal with. So I have to give them credit for that. Have anyone else experienced the same thing? I dont mind having a shared hosting solutions and I do think Bluehost is alot value for the money. But now there is too many things in susha short amount of time..

sadly enough, i have been experiencing similar problems, and this hosting service was suggested by a friend, which I inturn suggested to use it for my company's hosting.

Our company has regular business, and require services up and running during business hours. With this downtime, it's costing us time and money, and reputation.

What can you expect for 8 bucks a month anyways?

the way I see it,165.000 domains and maybe 20 that i have seen having problems.Thats not to bad.I'm happy with my service ,no one has 100% up time and every hosting company has it's bad times.

I wonder why I didn't at least get the email?

I've been with Bluehost since July 3. With the exception of a mixup setting up the domain servers I've been very happy with the service. I haven't noticed a slowdown in service or any email problems.

I have been a Bluehost customer for about 1,5 years.
And I am located on Box19. I still have paid for a couple of more days. But if things does not change for the better I will probably switch. I dont mind spending a few more dollars getting a VPS instead.

But that is something I will look in to after the summer.

Don't say anything bad about Bluehost they will delete your posts/threads, sad but true. I noticed the big outage threads seem gone.

I beleive the reason those threads were removed is because the turned into a flame war. That should be the only real reason moderators delete threads.

I have almost a dozen sites hosted by Bluehost. Been with them for a few years now.

Overall, Bluehost has been good. Yes, we have seen a recent string of intermittent problems, but for the most part, they are solved in an acceptable time frame.

And you have to admit, Bluehost has really good tech support on the phone. Some tech go above and beyond what another company would do for me.

***And trust me, I have seen some outrageous problems with other web hosts that were simply unacceptable***

So I'm still a happy camper. :)

I beleive the reason those threads were removed is because the turned into a flame war. That should be the only real reason moderators delete threads.Should be, but isn't. In the "how to make BH the best" thread, I posted my belief that, before looking for new services to offer, BH should work harder to improve the basics - uptime, for example (my box never went more than 4 days without a restart). That led to some discussion, none of which could even remotely be considered a "flame war." The thread was carefully pruned to remove the entire discussion. Shameful.

I'm pleased. I've been with BH for over six years and only in these past few weeks has my web site and email service been down. Some people flipped out, others had a beer and unplugged. So it goes.

Statistically, downtime has to happen to everyone at least once in their life. If it doesn't then they walk on water and make wine from it in their spare time.

Overall...Very Happy!

Best thing going in hosting, if you don't have the need or know how to run a dedicated server.

Downtime? I don't think I have every had a site down hosted here and I have 2 hosted here. If I had, then it wasn't down for very long.

I am very happy with BH, the support here is very friendly and prompt about handling issues. I will be a customer here for years to come. I can't say enough good things about this host.

Have been with Bluehost for 3 days. My server is down, for two+ hours now. Not just webserver down, but IP unpingable.

I'm looking in this forum presently to see if this is an ongoing theme with BlueHost, as I can't afford the headache at present.

I need a stable server, with the minimum of bells and whistles (ssl, php, and mysql).

And support, although polite, should be able to answer these three questions:

1. What is the problem?
2. What is the ETA for when the problem will be resolved?
3. How will this problem be addressed so that it does not occur in the future?

Not a very happy camper at present.

I dont blame Bluehost for downtime. I know it will happen sooner or later.
The thing is that there is so many small things all the time. I send a ticket about once a week. They do deal with everything quicly.

Like the power outage / someone had fun with a cable. I guess things like that happens. But I dont wanna discover things like that myself. I wanted to find an email explaining everything. Then it would not be a big deal. Before someone messed with the power I did get an email from a support engineer saying that he had made some settings and everything should be ok.

I send an email about compensation. I was offered like 4c/hour. Looking forward to have a ice cream send to me super express.

I am looking and hopefully will move all my domains to a Swedish VPS host about 10miles from where I live. Hakuna matata everybody... /JD

I've been with BH for maybe a year now; before this I was with Powweb. I came to BH on the recommendation of a friend after he heard me talking about how horrible Powweb had gotten. Initially (until about a month ago), I was very pleased with BH, uptime was good, speeds were good, support was good. I realize the last month has been taxing on everyone, but this reminds me very much of how "it" started at Powweb. First there was more downtime, then speeds were consistently slow, then support when into the toilet. Like everyone here I can not "live with" downtime. There are plenty of hosts that gaurantee uptime.

as an update, it's now been close to 12 hours, my ip is still unpingable.

Although I called support last nite, and logged a support ticket, when I called support this morning, he had no idea there was a problem. He was able to get the problem resolved.

game on.

I've asked in two other threads that have been deleted (one which was started by one of the Bluehost support people trying to explain the outage BTW) whether the building that has the generator also has an online UPS. If it doesn't, there will continue to be hiccups in the service when the power goes off. Having a better understanding of their datacenter infrastructure can help people make decisions whether or not they want to stay with Bluehost.

And I imagine that mentioning that Bluehost deletes threads it doesn't like will probably get this thread deleted as well.

I looked at this forum before deciding to switch to Bluehost and since I didn't find anything too ****ing about the service I made the switch. If the deleted threads were still there I might have still made the switch. If I had known they deleted threads before making the switch that probably would have made me think twice...

I have had lag for a short time also, but that is expected I have been with a lot of companies and my experience tells me no company can give you 100%. Sometimes it is out of their hands; like power outage they can only run backup for a certain amount of time. As for Bluehost, I have found them to be very friendly and act very fast to problems. Bluehost has most certainly been the best hosting company I have ever been with.:)
