My domain registration at GoDaddy is about to end, and I would like to switch registration to Bluehost.

First you have to set things up on the Godaddy end, using their domain management tools. Turn off "private registration," if it's enabled. Make sure the domain name is unlocked. Make sure the email address for the administrative contact is correct, but don't change any other registrant information (this may result in you being unable to transfer the domain for another 60 days!). Have Godaddy send you the authorization code by email.

Once that's all taken care of, hit the BH Control Panel, and choose Transfer Domain, and follow the steps it takes you through.

Is that just to use bluehost as a host, or to use bluehost to register the domain name?

That's what you need to do if you actually want to transfer the domain registration to BH. You could just leave the registration with GoDaddy, but host the site at BH. To do that, all you need to do is change the nameservers for the domain to ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com, then make the domain an "addon domain" on your BH account.

If you do decide to use BlueHost for both hosting and as domain registrar then transfer the hosting first, wait for the domain to fully propagate, and then transfer the domain. If you transfer the domain before the changes to the nameservers have propagated properly you can end up with one of them pointing back to your old hosting even though your account appears to show the correct values.

There is no down time for transferring a domain provided that you don't attempt to transfer it prior to any changes to the nameservers etc having a chance to propogate properly first.

Mail is only affected when you move your hosting - not when you just move the domain.

Hey I would like to leave the registration with GoDaddy, but host the site at BH.
I already changed the nameservers to domain to ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com in Go daddy.
But in BH account I cannot change the GoDaddy domain to "addon domain" because when I registered with BH I used this domain as the main Address for BH.
so My question is how to I let BH know that my main domain is coming from GoDaddy?
where can I set it up?

Since this is your prmary domain, you need not add it ad add-on domain. Add on domain is for adding additional domains to your BH account. Changing the ns records should be enough and it can take fee hours / days for the ns changes to take effect. Be patient.

Hi everyone

I new here. I not sure if the step I took is correct.

Below is the issue I'm having

I have bought hosting service thru blue host and I had intend to transfer my domain (mydomain.ws) but was not succesfull because of the domain.

The step I took.
The domain was from godaddy so I add the DNS to blue host DNS. However since I can't transfer the domain, all I did was to delete blue host DNS from godaddy account. Did I done correcly? However under my domain manager I can see the it show that I still have this domain. How is this possible? Is there anything that I need to do regarding this matter?

Another thing is I just transfer my other domain (mydomain.com ) to blue host. As the first domain was not succesfull, I figure to use the hosting service which I bought the first time, to current domain. I was informed it is possible.

The ways the transfering was done by me

I went to http://tutorials.bluehost.com/adddomainreg and follow the steps.

NOT http://tutorials.bluehost.com/transfer
I like to highlight that I do NOT have to entre my Auth code. It directly went to the next step.

Again did I done the correctly of transfering the domain and be able to use the hosting which I bought before this?
I just verified my domain how do I proceed to install wordpress with this domain?

Thanks for reading this long message.

For your domain issues, you may need to contact Bluehost Support on the Live Chat --> www.bluehost.com
This is a user to user forum and we cannot resolve those issues for you.

For installing scripts to your website, login to your cPanel using the credentials that Bluehost gave you. At the bottom, select Simple Scripts. From there you can install Wordpress along with many others.
