View Full Version : Login Authentication failed!
Please someone help!!!
I can't get my site up and this guessing game is torture!!!
I keep getting "Login Authentication failed!"
Some strange site is uploaded to where my site is. It has my name on it? I thought Bluehost put it up because my site didn't have anything on it...so if I put ANYTHING up temperarily, it'll be better than whatever is there.
But my real problem is trying to upload my new site.
I can't seem to fill in the correct info and would appreciate some help!
Can someone give me examples of what I'm filling in wrong on fetch??
on Dreamweaver on ???????
Hostname: ftp.bluehost.com?? ftp.mysitename.com??? What???
Username: bluehost username or my bluehost email???
FTP? SFTP???
Port: 21?? 22???
CAN SOMEONE HELP?????
Thanks,
G

Still not working! Do you think it could do with the files that somehow are on my site? I don't know where this came from...but it DOES have my info on it and I'd at least like it gone! Any suggestions?

How about a link? Without being able to look at it, we're just taking stabs in the dark.
Even with a link, since none of us can poke around in your account, it may be impossible to determine what's going on. You will probably have to use Live Chat to kick it around with the support folks.

The site is:
gfoxdesign.com
If you're with bluehost, I'll tell you my password if need be!
Thanks!!

The moderators here are not affiliated with BH in any way.
I guess I'm just not understanding what the problem is. That site looks like a fully-formed website for Geri Fox, photographer, from Chesterfield, MO. It's obviously under construction, since a lot of the links aren't working yet. Is that not your site? The domain was registered back in 2006, and the nameservers are pointing to BH.
If that's not your site, you need to contact BH and find out what domain name you've actually registered with them!

I have had that exact name for years. I'm NOT a photographer and I don't know where the .gif files came from that are being used, but I did see them located on my BH site. I can't find a phone # for customer service and don't type too fast. Do you know of a number I can contact BH technical support at? I really do appreciate your help!

I'm still really curious about where the existing page came from. There's no magic in web hosting, and if you don't put up a page, the most you usually get is a plain default page from BH that says something like "There's no site here yet."
Ya know...
I do remember messing around on some "template site".... I know this was so ugly, but I was curious as to how much I could change if I used a pre-existing template. I thought when I uploaded it,(I imagine) that it wouldn't be a problem putting my site up anyway. Then I must have completely forgotten about it actually being UP there with MY NAME on that hideously ugly site!
So that's it in a nutshell!!!
