View Full Version : saving bandwidth and third party hosting
Hi, I'm trying to save as much bandwidth and CPU usage in my site yet still have a lot of rich content. If I use third party hosting sites to display pictures, movies, and play music, does that save a lot of bluehost server bandwidth and CPU usage? So if I link my pictures to photobucket or whatever, it doesn't get routed back to the bluehost servers right?

do you actually go though that much. Blue host seems to have a ton of resources to use. I probably don't even use 1% of it potential.

To answer your question, yes that would not affect your bandwidth, but free sites are going to block your domain if you put as much strain on their server as it sounds like you're doing.

Well, to be more specific, I have a forum and instead of having users upload images as attachments, I'm having them host on one of the pic hosting sites and linking. Hoping that would save bandwidth, disk usage, and CPU usage.
Bluehost is great, but it's still shared hosting. If the forum gets popular, I know I'll have to go dedicated, but I'm trying optimize as much as possible in the meantime.
