AWstats is executed by the host admins. It runs daily, when they schedule it. I believe there is no facility to cycle it on demand.

On my box (92), the automatic updates haven't worked since July 11. I've exchanged a few emails with BH about it (my site is very low traffic, so it doesn't make all that much difference to me), but no resolution yet.

(BTW, are you out there, dvessel? IIRC, you're also on box92. Have your awstats and/or webalizer updated themselves? If you see an update on July 17, 20:50, that was BH doing it manually. I'm wondering if it's the whole box, or just my account.)

Got your message but I can't help. I disabled all of it since I'm using Google Analytics. Sorry.

Despite some of the comments, there's no secret to it and Bluehost is not hiding the fact. Here's the link from their help explaining how to do it - enabling manual updating of awstats (http://helpdesk.bluehost.com/kb/index.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=142).

Regards,

Robert

I'm guessing that's a new feature, added since last year (note that most of this thread is a year old).

What is the concern with manual versus automated updates? Even with manual updates, isn't this just going to continue to overwrite the file for that month, e.g., awstats072007.domainname.com.txt? Just how much additional load does this create? I guess I'm curious more than anything.

I followed the instructions per BlueHost's instructions and it works like a charm. Thanks for pointing out this little nugget!
