I set up my outlook and everything works great except the emails do not send out.

As the out going server I have mail.mysite.com.

Then I have it set to use same setting as incoming.

Incoming server pop3 110.

What am I doing wrong?

Try going to tools > accounts > properties > servers tab > check to see if outgoing mail server "my server requires authentication" is checked. And under advanced tab, outgoing smtp is set at 25.

Sometimes, ISP's block port 25 (the outgoing SMTP port). Why, I don't know. You may want to contact your ISP to see if that's the case. You can use SSL with outlook and that would change the SMTP port to 465. Although the only problem with that, is you'll get an error message saying that it's not signed or something, but it really is. You just have to hit ok.

My friend has email through my domain and he had the same problem. His ISP block port 25. So he uses the SSL port, and that seams to work fine.

Another thing you could do is have your email hosted with your domain for free with googe. https://www.google.com/hosted and hotmail as the same thing.

Before using SSL, I would set the outgoing port to 26. 26 is an alternate SMTP port that ISPs dont interfere with. Just replace 25 with the 26 in your advanced settings.

OK...Now it says the message is sent but the message remains in my outbox and I still haven't recieved it.

I will post back in an hour ot two and see if I recieved it. Don't know why it remains in my outbox if it was sent?

Ok...Still no go.

I tried the SSL like you suggested and still nothing.

I get no error. Just sends but never removes it from the outbox and never send mail.

Are we sure it mail.mysite.com?

Don't know why it remains in my outbox if it was sent?If you have opened the message while it was still sitting in the outbox, that essentially takes it out of the queue for sending. Open the message in the outbox, and "send" it again. (Turn off SSL, turn authentication on, and use port 26.)

If you get this to work let me know, I am still unable to send email using SMTP auth on port 26, 26 or required alternate port for ssl on 465. And it has nothing to do with port 25 being blocked.

Though I would suggest instead of bluehost using port 26 why not use 587 as per RFC 2476 that talks about submission port, which is for an authenticated SMTP server. Some email client like Eudora have a setting to easily use this port.

Are you, by any chance, running any incarnation of Norton Internet Security?

Me, no, though during my testing I disabled my AV and fire wall, same issue.

Actually got an email from bluehost, they fixed this on their end, try sending your email now.
