uploading flash movie etc. from a affiliate progrem

I would like to get step-by-step instructions on how to upload a "widget" from amazon.com onto my own website i would prefer linking instead of download first to my computer

You need to follow the instructions that Amazon gives. It usually requires inserting some code they have created into the content of your own page.

I did what they told me: cut & paste into my html editor but it didn't go thru.

Did you upload the changed page after applying the change?

I put the code for the widget onto a page of my website where I want it to show up on that page. I put the code in the "code editor", or "html editor" area and it did not go throw. I see the flash movie symbol but that's all

If you just see the Flash movie symbol I would suggest trying to update your flash version.
