View Full Version : Step 3/4: Awaiting Release From Losing Registrar

Hi guys and gals!
I'm in the process of transferring a couple of domain names to Bluehost. Last time I did this from iPower it went smoothly as they got me to login to OpenSRS and I could accept the transfer.

At the moment both domains I am transferring are still at "Step 3/4: Awaiting Release From Losing Registrar". One is from Network Solutions and the other 123-Reg. I haven't received an email from either of the 'losing' registrars asking to confirm the transfer.

Why is this and how can I speed this process up, since last time I managed to do it so quickly? Both domains are unlocked and the name servers changed to Bluehost. The request codes were accepted.

You could try contacting the losing registrar to see if they will speed up the process. They are supposed to send you an email immediately they receive a request to transfer giving you five days to notify that the transfer should not proceed. The losing registrar may release a domain sooner if you confirm to them that you really do want to have it transferred but they can delay to the end of the five days if they want to and if they do there isn't any way to make it faster.

Because I requested an unlocking of the domain, they deemed it suspicious and therefore added a 'ogre lock'. Seems like they consider perfectly legitimate transfers as suspicious. I now have to initiate the whole transfer process again.

I got this information by ringing their call centre. If I had waited for the 5 day auto-transfer, I'd be still in the same situation. To get this 'ogre lock' taken off you have to ring the customer care centre, which isn't open right now. All of these phone calls are international (GB). Add insult to injury, I asked to speak to the manger of the call centre and they cut me off!!

Solution?

Everything has been setup correctly from the losing registrars. It looks like Bluehost are the ones who need to accept the transfer. However, they only have "one" person who deals with these transfers and its his day off.

Come on guys! I shouldn't have to chase you to make a simple transfer!
