I was attempting to find a better way to develop newsletters. In the past I have merely made up my newsletter in html, then cut and pasted in Outlook. This works well if the recipient uses Outlook, but if Thunderbird mail program is used it breaks up the newsletter.

I have seen rather decent emails from auto progs such as constant contact but would rather develop the mailings myself.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks
Vood

What about just converting your newletter to a pdf and sending that?

I would recommend PHP List (http://www.phplist.com/) - you can install it on your website and it runs a full mailing list application - including the ability to manage your lists and create your own custom emails with HTML code.

You would have much more control over the code (as Outlook will modify it before sent to optimise it for other Outlook readers, which is probably why your Thunderbird users are experiencing problems).

I found that VerticalResponse is the best...cheap to run campaigns, and keeps great track of stats, opt out, etc.

Good luck.

Since you prefer doing things on your own, I suggest you create the newsletters yourself & send them using some good bulkmailer like maxbulkmailer..

All the Best :-)

I prefer regular old fashion text for my newsletters. :)

I prefer to use Aweber as it manages my database of users as well... Great support and it is pretty popular.

I do prefer the old text Newsletters. But it's kind of enticing that you can put a lot into your newsletter, like pictures, links, even media. But in the end those might just bug the people who you send the newsletter to. It's really just the content that matters, isn't it?

I've been doing all of my newsletters manually and sending bulk. Thought about Awebber, but I rather keep the costs to a minimum.
