I only registered a domain to bluehost.com a few days ago, so it's very possible this is only temporary, but I always felt it was slightly unresponsive, sometimes even when loading HTML-files less than 1kB in size.
I decided to test this, and uploaded a random .rar-archive to public_html through FTP, then downloading it with my browser. The transfer speed started out somewhere around 120 kB/s, peaking at 150 kB/s, but after a minute slowing down to 60kB/s. When downloading it through FileZilla it kept at a steady 60 kB/s. That, at least to me, feels pretty slow (at least compared to what I was expecting) considering I was the only user accessing my domain - the only user ever, in fact.
Of course, I'm sharing disks, CPU and bandwidth with other users, and someone on my server might be hogging the bandwidth (and in that case, what can I do about it?).
Is this speed the norm with bluehost?
