Just wondering if I can upload vide to my website. At the mo, I am using the Page Wizard Site Builder in the cPanel.

I am learning all this and am by no means a programmer, so be gentle with your answers! LOL.

Cheers,

Ray

You can FTP just about any kind of file to your hosting space. To the uploading software, a file is a file is a file - it doesn't care about content. You can use the FTP built into the Control Panel/File Manager - you'll see an "Upload" icon along the top row - or you can use any standalone FTP client program like FileZilla or WS_FTP.

When it comes to incorporating that video into your website, things start to get more complicated, simply because there are so many different video formats, and how they behave is often dependent upon how the user's machine is configured. Initially, you can try just linking to the video, just as you would link to any external file from a webpage:

Hi and thanks for the info! Still a bit confused, not mach of a computer buff and will have to 'trile and error' your information. At the mo, am only using the page wizard way of uploading pictures and text, have not yet used the ftp way of uploading info. If you have any info (yeah, I know, I use that word a lot) on how to use the ftp way, I would be really greatful. Think I have tried to use ftp, but not tto sure and also, don't know if it worked (does that make sence???). Like I say, pretty new to this, but willing to learn!

Cheers,

Ray:confused:

Hit the tutorials page: http://tutorials.bluehost.com/

Choose Video Tutorials, FTP Programs, FileZilla (it's a freebie, and widely used, so it's a good choice).

Remember, there's nothing mysterious or magical about an FTP program. All it's doing is copying files from one computer to another. It's no more difficult than using Windows Explorer to copy a file from one folder to another.

Another FTP I like is FireFTP. It is a FTP plugin for FireFox. Real easy to use.

Cheers for that. Right, I have done the necassary to upload the video through ftp. But now, how do I get it to actually appear on the website. This might sound stupid, but I just cant see how I can get it to appear on the site!

You need to attach it into a web page.

Sounds simple, but as you will see from previous posts, I am no computer wizard and up until now, I have been using the page wizard site builder that is just drag and drop. It does not have the ability to upload video, and am wondering how I go about attaching the video to the webpage, is there a program that I need to use?

Cheers,

Ray

That sounds like you have outgrown te wizard and should look at installing a free web editor on your own computer to work on your pages there. That will allow you to add all the things that the wizard doesn't handle.
