When I go into File Manager, the "Go" button is shaded preventing me from selecting a directory to see. What would cause the Go button to be inactive?

While I don't know why your "Go" button is disabled (mine isn't), you don't really need it to navigate through your directory structure. In the left pane, click on the plus sign to expand a directory. Click on a subdirectory name to select it.

Bob - Maybe I'm missing something....is there another way to see the directory structure without using File Manager? I can't see any directory via File Manager because I can't get past the initial pop-up window.

I'm not entirely sure what 'initial pop-up window' you're referring to.
The only window that I can think of is the one that allows you to show/hide files whose names start with a period. You may need to make a selection to get the "Go" button enabled. Have you tried clicking on it, even though it appears grayed out?

I know what you mean! I am having this problem too with firefox.
Then it helps to clear cache and cookies, closing firefox and trying it again.
Or just copying the link of "file manger" icon into the brower adress input bar:
https://login.bluehost.com/frontend/bluehost/filemanager/index.html?showhidden=1&dir=/public_html

The pop-up window is the "File Manager Directory Selection" window. it appears a soon as I click on File Manager in the cPanel.
I tried using the direct link but I still get this window with the greyed out "Go" button and cannot get past this window.

Sorry, I have no idea what might be causing this. When I have that window open and hover over the "Go" button, the status bar in IE7 shows 'filemanager/index.html' as the destination.
What browser are you using? I wonder if this issue might be browser-dependent.

The file manager is only really useful for if you need to make quick updates from a remote location. For everyday use an FTP program on your own computer is far far more flexible and eaier to use.

Yes Kody, I can FTP. In fact, I FTP'ed a file and wanted to verify that it reached its destination when I discovered I could not access the directory structure via File Manager. This "Go" button issue occurred after the FTP action but I was able to use the "Go" button earlier in the day. I have to wonder if the file I loaded created some issue...
Bob - I appreciate your help with this. I use IE 7 at home but have also tried to access via IE 6 with the same result.
When I get home this evening, I'm going to see if I can Live Chat with bluehost for a solution. Thanks!

Just wanted to relay that my issue with File Manager appears to be resolved. Apparently, my FTP'ing of a folder which I originally placed in "wp-contents" must have caused the problem. Using my FTP program, I moved the new folder into "wp-contents/uploads" and now the "Go" button in File Manager that was greyed out is now clickable and I can see my directory structure via File Manager. I don't know why this would have created a problem but it sure points a guilty finger at where I placed the new folder. Thanks all for the help.
