Is anyone else having trouble connecting to their ftp server, or is it just me? It was working yesterday, and this morning it wasn't. Tried changing my password to make sure FileZilla was using the correct one, but no go. I get

"ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server"

Most likely a firewall problem. Make sure FileZilla's ports are indeed forwarded in your FW settings.

It was working again yesterday. Just one of those mysterious things that I leave to the gurus to understand. Probably I have FileZilla set to update itself automatically and that's what fixed the problem for me.

Thanks guys!

This issue disappeared today with no intervention from me - why I don't know but it seems to happen to a number of posters on this forum also.

Here is my scenario: (Routers and FW settings set per forum guidelines...)

Yesterday:-------------------------------------------------
@ HOME:
FileZilla > HOME-FreeNAS
Error: ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server
WinSCP > HOME-FreeNAS
Error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
Connection failed.

Today:-----------------------------------------------------
@HOME:
FileZilla > HOME-FreeNAS - no problem connecting
WinSCP > HOME-FreeNAS - no problem connecting

@OFF-SITE:
FileZilla > HOME-FreeNAS - no problem connecting
WinSCP > HOME-FreeNAS - no problem connecting

Set up a OFF-SITE-FreeNAS server...

Results:
FileZilla > OFF-SITE-FreeNAS
Error: ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server
WinSCP > OFF-SITE-FreeNAS
Error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
Connection failed.

----------------------------------------------

So the FileZilla and WinSCP clients are working correctly in accessing the HOME-FreeNAS

The FileZilla and WinSCP clients throw up their client-specific error messages (as shown) in trying to access the OFF-SITE-FreeNAS.

This happens whether I use the local IP or the forwarded ISP port 21 through the router.

But do they work when you try to connect to your BlueHost hosting? Since this is a BlueHost forum whether you can connect to a NAS whether local or remote has nothing to do with this forum.
