I host my e-mail accounts on Google Apps, so I have my MX entries set to the required Google domains.
The question: I also want a couple of specific e-mail addresses (not entire domains) to use BlueHost's "Forwarders" to pipe any e-mail received to specific e-mail accounts to a Perl program hosted on BlueHost.
I have set the "Always Accept" to "Yes", and set up an e-mail account on BlueHost to accept the e-mails.
Whenever I send an e-mail to the desired address, I get a Google bounceback message:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
<removed the e-mail address to prevent spam>
Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550-5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist. Please try
550-5.1.1 double-checking the recipient's email address for typos or
550-5.1.1 unnecessary spaces.
Also, the message doesn't arrive to the BlueHost-hosted e-mail account.
Maybe I'm not being patient enough. How long does it take to update the MX records after selecting "Always Accept"?
And do I need to have Google just ignore messages sent to the desired address?
Or am I missing something else altogether here?
