View Full Version : What is the limit of emails sent through bluehost per hour?

I added an email user on my domain this morning.
Within minutes all email clients connected to the domain came up with an error that (more or less) said that "The server at bluehost has blocked emails from MYDOMAIN_NAME since the allocated number of emails that can be sent per hour has been exceeded."

I removed the email address for that 'Idiot Windoze PC' and within an hour emails could be sent again.

I searched the 'Knowledgebase' on bluehost.com as well as this forum and nowhere can I found the amount of acceptable emails per domain that can be sent in an hour.

Does anyone know that 'figure'?

TIA

I believe it to be 100.

If you login to your control panel and have a dig around under emails, there is an alternative program listed you can use to process batch emails. It also tells you the exact figure.

Thanks for the info!

It was'nt a batch email job that caused this mail storm, but a virus / spyware prog. (most common side-effects of the usage of the product range of messrs Gates and Associates of Seattle.) I disabled that email account until such time as 'the user' has sorted the issue out.

I actually spoke to a tech guy and he said it was only 50 per hour. I got mine bumped to 500 though.

I hit this error last night when moving my wife's blog over to my account and converting from movable type to wordpress. I was approving comments (that don't show up after the import) and apparently I did it too fast. :(
