View Full Version : 'Ghost' Mailbox in Mac OS X Mail

I've recently started using SSL via IMAP to pickup my mail on Mac OSX 10.5.7; since I've started using it, I keep getting these annoying 'INBOX' icons appearing within Mail - there is an inbox within an inbox within an inbox and quite frankly it's the most irritating thing I've ever come across in configuration. No matter how many times it's deleted it comes back.
I've attached a screenshot showing what I mean. If someone could explain to me why this is happening and how I can stop it I would appreciate it.

85 views and no-one has any ideas? Great.

Well, this is a forum about Bluehost web hosting, not about Mac OSX. Has it occurred to you that you might get a better response posting about this problem on a forum for Mac users?
When I first saw your thread, I was going to delete it outright, since you're simply in the wrong place, but I thought there was at least an outside chance that someone else could help.

Er, well the question relates wholly to my bluehost email account, so why the **** would I ask the question anywhere but here? Never mind, feel free to delete the ****ing thing, you obviously haven't a clue.

IMAP is a standard. There's nothing unusual about BH's implementation of it. If your email client is misbehaving when trying to use IMAP, there's something wrong with the way you've got it configured. You need to ask people who would actually know about the email client program.
Most of the posters here are on PCs, to start with, and among the Mac users, the majority are probably using POP rather than IMAP. So, you're shooting at a very small target. On a MAC forum, you'd have a much better chance.
But with your personal charm so eloquently displayed, I predict you're going to have trouble getting help from anyone. People generally don't volunteer their time and effort trying to help someone who gets snotty when he doesn't get an immediate answer, or when someone suggests a better way to get help.

Well if someone is blunt in their response (as you were, suggesting that you would delete it outright - that would have been really helpful, wouldn't it?) then I think you can expect me to blunt in return.
I am quite aware what IMAP is. I am also aware that the Mail app is configured precisely to your criteria but I guess I'll figure it out myself; thanks for your 'help'.

...your criteria...
This is a user-to-user forum, not a BH support site, and the moderators are not BH employees. I don't have any configuration criteria. If BH has provided you with settings that don't work properly, you need to take it up with them.

well i wasn't asking for support; i was asking for help. Either way, I'll figure it out myself and shan't bother posting the result here. Feel free to delete my user account, because i won't be back after this reply.
