I installed it with fantastico, and its www.cremationproductions.com/forum

does this mean i have to reinstall it undre different directory for it to work?

You can rename the folder location to whatever you want, so that's not a problem. If the mods you want came from phpbb.com you should be fine but make sure they work on the version that Fantastico installed ... some mods only work for some versions and they don't work for all themes. With that said in general people typically mess up mods that require sql manipulation. So with that in mind read through the installation instructions and look for anything referring to "SQL", "MySQL" or "phpMyAdmin".

If you are new to phpBB and Modding ... and if you used Fantastico to install it I suspect you are ... you should look into "EasyMod". It's a mod that automates the Modding process. Not all mods are EasyMod compatible but most of them are close enough and for phpBB version 3 "Olympus" all mods will be.

Go to phpBB.com and read the installing mods and easymod articles in the knowledge base. Specific help for phpBB and phpBB mods is found in the forum and knowledge base. It is a large communnity and very helpful, but it is quite important that you actually take the time to read the threads for mods that are posted there.

Some of the MODS we have successfully implemented are:

EZ Portal by Smartor v.2.1.8
SKalinks Directory by Skalinks v.1.5
phpBB Knowledge Base v.2.0.2
phpBB Anti Spambot MOD v.1.0.0
phpBB Simple Ranks MOD v. n/a
phpBB Google Sessions Fix v.0.9.1
phpBB Blank Template v.1.0.2
phpBB Add Forum Links to Overall Header v.1.2.1
phpBB Admin Userlist v.2.0.2
phpBB Forum Integrated News Delivery v.1.0.3
phpBB RSS Feed v.2.2.4
phpBB Autodiscovery Plus v.1.0.1a
phpBB Trim RSS Posts v.1.0.0
phpBB Active Members Only v.1.1.1
phpBB Change Email Sender v.1.0.1
phpBB Hide Style Select v.1.0.2
phpBB Recommend Forum v.1.0.1

THese appear to work together fine with no conflicts on phpBB 2.0.18.

I am not a programmer and you don't have to be to do these changes. Just be really careful about mixing MODS. Some don't play nicely with others. Make sure you back up files before making changes, and be aware that if you use easymod it will not necessarily install mods correctly to a board that has been changed from vanilla phpBB. i.e. conflicts between mods cannot be automatically resolved in all cases.

Rule 1 is back up before changing anything, and check everything after each mod before installing your next MOD.

As for those MODs sorry, don't use 'em and can't advise.
I install everything manually. It really isn't that hard. Just follow the instructions... exactly. And read the phpBB mod threads first so you can see if there are any weird things going on, and check that the mod is not abandoned or in need of tons of patches, which can be really frustrating.

The instructions get clearer with experience. The filenames and paths are explicitly documented assuming you are starting from the forum root directory. Use a text editor's FIND function to identify where code has to be inserted, replaced or whatever in existing files. And remember to back up !

Good luck. I think the cashmod is widely used but have no direct knowledge.
