View Full Version : Some email never arrives - trace?

Two of my add-on domains (both .org, it so happens) seem to have a problem with certain email messages never arriving at the inbox. It may be limited to certain senders, but the pattern (if any) is not yet discernible.

I don't use Boxtrapper or Postini or anything like that.
The missing messages have been resent to a Yahoo acct and then forwarded to the intended account, and they arrive without issue.
I checked all settings on the client computer, but the messages don't even appear in the inbox visible via webmail.
I've tried to recreate the problem but of course have had no issues. But, I keep getting reports of "I sent that a while ago!" and other associated anxiety from the acct user.

Is there some way to see if the 'missing' messages were ever attempted delivered to the BlueHost server? I know the sender's email address who recently experienced this. The raw logs seem to pertain only to website access.

I have recommended that the user have the sender triple-check their spelling of the intended address, and to forward me any delivery error reports that might come back from their server, but no word on either of these yet. Being separated a degree from their use of the system puts me at a bit of a disadvantage...

Thanks in advance for any tips.

If the attempted delivery was in the last ~7 hours, call up support and have them check the Tail Logs.. They will need the email address that was attempting to send to you.. If the email hit the server, it will have record of it.

Or you can submit a ticket/Livechat..
