Hi all,
When I check my profile today, I get this warning in red shade:
During the past 24 hours your account has been throttled for a total of 301.114 seconds.
I wonder what this means. Can anybody help?
That's a notice of "CPU limiting" probably due to some script on your site consuming excessive system resources.

See this announcement (http://www.bluehostforums.com/showthread.php?t=17605).

Thank you! So this means a certain script in my website is causing troubles right?
Hi,
Sorry, I did not understand the meaning of the warning.
Is it just a warning?
Do at some point the site will be suspended?
Is the site will be down for a limited period?
I'd be happy to receive further explanations.
Efil.

No, you have this all wrong in your thinking.
Go back and read the post above you from Early Out. Click the link there and read that thread. That explains it. There is also a link in that article to Matt Heaton's blog post about the entire process.
This information is not a warning, just information. However, if you have a CPU intensive process, you will now be able to see this, and will probably want to retool your application or code. The cpu throttling is intended to protect the users on a server from heavy duty processes that someone has running.
This is a shared server environment at BH, and there may be around 450 or so users on one server, so it is important to provide the same level of service and resources to each user on the server they are assigned to.

The time given was just ocer 5 minutes (out of the 1440 minutes in a day) - That's less than 0.35% of the time. You probably don't need to worry unless it gets to be a lot higher percentage.
Thanks for the answers!
By the way, What is the maximum allowed?

There is no maximum, but if your account is being throttled all of the time, your visitors aren't going to be able to access much on your site - it will be too slow to use.

i"m getting this message on the CPU throttling:
Your account is actively experiencing CPU limiting factors (throttling).
During the past 24 hours your account has been throttled for a total of 1380.963 seconds.
I tried to upload a picture to my gallery and it's been loading for ages.
What does it mean? I'm not gonna be able to upload to my gallery again??

None of us really knows how the CPU throttling works in a given situation. I'd suggest you contact BH support with your specific problem, so they can take a look and see what's happening.
