Last couple of weeks my sites on box530 have all been randomly off the air, with the same problem every time - "Box under heavy load -- you may experience degraded system performance" in server status. I had hoped that the mooted CentOS upgrade might help and was happy to wear that outage in the interests of improved performance. Now it seems this box is actually worse than before, and again this morning it's been routinely dropping off the air for 5 minute blocks. Anyone else suffering? Is there some DOS action going on again? Are other boxes effected... and shock... are some even worse?

Trying to work out if this is just a box530 issue, or if I should just move this site to my HostGator account. :D

I think you'll find that it's a problem confined to your box. My box hasn't seen problems like that ever, and if other boxes were similarly affected, we'd be seeing a lot more complaints in here.

Time for some Live Chat with the support folks. They usually don't respond to box move requests, but if that box is unreliable, they need to listen to you.

Thanks early. This is utterly hopeless... down again... will see if live chat can help... failing that... plan for the pain of site relocation over the weekend. :(

Hello,

Same here, but on box 540. The last weeks has been unbearable. The server gets overloaded everyday, it's really frustrating.

Bye.

I was moved to box540 over the weekend, and my sites have been super slow all week. :(

And this move was supposed to improve performance.

I think some of you are suffering from The Curse of the Newest Server. When BH brings a new server on line, there's always a huge burst of activity on it, as accounts are moved to it, and new users are added to it. So, BH is moving stuff onto it, and at the same time, new customers are uploading all sorts of stuff, exploring cPanel options, creating databases, creating email accounts, and so on. It takes a few weeks for a new server to settle down into normal operating mode.

I think it is more than that; yesterday (Wednesday) when I asked for a status on it they told me that the engineers were doing some emergency maintenance on the server.
