perms problem

hi

my script has a gallery section and a file share section which require perms to be .777 as soon as i change them from .755 all i see is a blank page, i know its not a script issue as it worked fine on my previous provider, i'd be greatful for any help

on BlueHost scripts may write to folders and files without 777 attributes on it.

Also, BlueHost has set the servers so that if a file or folder has write permissions on it for anything other than the owner, the server won't allow that file/folder to be accessed, and the webserver will throw a 500 server error if you try.
