View Full Version : How to setup wordpress post by email?

I installed wordpress via simplescripts and try to set the post by email option but nothing seem to work???
I have already created the email address and checked that I have the right password..
my mail server is mail.domain.com and port number I left it as 110 (wordpress default)

I have google this and they advise to run
http://domain.com/wp-mail.php
the wp-mail is able to somehow pull the email but not able to post to wordpress.
Any idea how should I do this??
Pls advise as I am new to all these... thanks in advance

Debug 1-
Use web mail to login to your wordpress email account and see if the password and username you use is correct. remember username is the complte email address! Not just the username before the @ sign!
Debug 2- Then see if there are any mails inside.
If there isn't any, send some in.

Run http://domain.com/wp-mail.php after every email sent OR set it up as cron. But that would be later thing to do.

Hey I tried... webmail shows the email ... when I run http://domain.com/wp-mail.php manually I get :
Author: 1
Posted title: lalala
Mission complete. Message 1 deleted.
Email gone from webmail, but blog do not have the posting, any idea why?

Question. If you have your mail with google, shouldn't your mail settings be using google's settings?
If your mail is not with google, but is being handled by BlueHost, then your mail server should not be mail.domain.com, but should be: localhost .
Are you using the postie plugin? It makes posting by email very easy.
Also, for whatever your using, is there an option for preferred text type plain or html? I had to set mine to plain..
